Structure fire at Strathcona and Quince claims two lives

PRINCE GEORGE — Update: In an update from the City of Prince George Friday night, they say two people died in the fire at Strathcona Avenue and Quince Street.

The City says Prince George Fire Rescue arrived on scene just before 2:30 p.m. Friday to find a residential structure fire with flames and a large amount of smoke issuing from the front, sides and back.

Fire crews utilized a coordinated fire attack to suppress and extinguish the fire quickly. During fire suppression, searching crews found two people inside the structure who had succumbed to their injuries.

Fire crews, RCMP and the B.C. Coroner’s Service remain on scene investigating this fire event. The cause of the fire has not been determined.

Damages to the structure are estimate at $265,000.

Earlier: Two people were taken from a home on stretchers following a house fire Friday afternoon in the VLA (July 25).

The fire broke out just before 2:30 p.m. at a home on the corner of Strathcona Avenue and Quince Street.

Several curious onlookers were on scene to watch Prince George Fire Rescue treating two people who suffered apparent injuries. No word yet on the cause of the fire.
