PRINCE GEORGE — A large swath of Prince George will experience a power outage Monday afternoon (Aug.4).

BC Hydro blames it on a motor vehicle accident Sunday night on Highway 16 West near Art Knapp Plantland.

Spokesperson Mike Kellett says roughly 19,000 customers in the Prince George area will be affected by the outage.

“The accident resulted in extensive damage to BC Hydro infrastructure making outage necessary to conduct urgent repairs.

“The outage will impact multiple neighbourhoods including Beaverly, College Heights, Foothills, as well as the Hart and Chief Lake Road area and will start at about 1:00PM and last until late afternoon/early evening.”

He says available crews will be working to restore power safely and as quickly as possible.

“We thank our customers for their patience as we complete this urgent operation,” adds Kellett.
