PRINCE GEORGE — The organizers of the CrossRoads Street Fest have cancelled the event set that was set to take place Saturday (Sept. 6) evening after a fire at the downtown Prince George brewery.

Notice about the cancellation was posted to the CrossRoads Brewing and Distillery’s Facebook page. The event was scheduled to take over the area of Fifth Avenue and George Street from 5:00 p.m. until midnight.

“Due to the devastating fire this morning, we’ve had to cancel the event,” the brief post said. “Thank you to everyone involved with putting it on.”

The brewery owners also took to social media to suggest that the while they’re devastated by the fire – and humbled by the support from the community – its not the end of their business, even though the building suffered significant damage.

“We are relieved to hear that everyone is safe and that nobody was injured,” the post said. “We wish to thank the fire department and all first responders for their efforts to contain this fire and to ensure the safety of the Prince George community.”

“Downtown Prince George is where we flourished and grew, and we plan on continuing to do so,” the post added. “We hope to resume production as soon as possible with the assistance of our fellow breweries. Our story has not ended.”
