PRINCE GEORGE — The case of a 57-year-old man charged with arson causing damage to property will come before a judicial case manager on Sept. 19.

Richard Alex Gordon Titchener was arrested after the Sept. 5 fire at CrossRoads Brewing and Distillery. Damage was estimated at $1.8 million.

Titchener was on the docket for a scheduling hearing on Sept. 12 via the Williams Lake court.

The Sept. 19 hearing is to set a date for the bail hearing in Provincial Court.

The fire wiped out CrossRoads Brewing and Distillery’s downtown location, a popular brewhouse and restaurant with an outdoor patio. The locally owned business has another location in College Heights.

The incident has also sparked a debate over justice policies, as the BC Conservative Party argues the fire is a “tragic example” of how repeat offenders can wreak havoc on communities, small businesses, and local economies.
