SURREY, B.C. — The Prince George Spruce Kings returned to winning ways with a dominant 8-1 win over the Surrey Eagles in Friday (Nov. 14) action in the BC Hockey League.

The Kings scored seven unanswered goals at the South Surrey Arena to improve to 8-8 on the season. That’s good for 16 points in 16 games, and seventh place in the Coastal Conference.

Prince George’s Marcus Lougheed opened the scoring at 8:37 of the first period, but Surrey’s Shin Yoon Min evened the score at 1-1 just 16 seconds later.

The Kings then took off as goals from Lougheed, Ozbej Rep and Kazumo Sasaki had them up 4-1 after 20 minutes. Rep and Sasaki struck on the power play as Surrey’s Max Davidson was penalized with a high-sticking double minor.

Carter Hesselgrave scored a pair in the second period, which also saw Jackson Froysland find the back of the net. Mason Loewen added one more goal for good measure in the third period to make it 8-1.

Colin Reay stopped 28 of 29 shots he faced to earn the win in the Kings net, while Jaiden Sharma stopped 50 of 58 shots in a losing effort.

The Kings are back in action this evening in Langley as they take on the 9-9 Rivermen in a 6:00 p.m. puck drop.
