New service changes and expansions coming to Prince George transit in early 2026

PRINCE GEORGE — There will be changes coming to some BC Transit bus routes in Prince George in the new year.

Starting Jan. 4, BC Transit says it will be running the Route 5 Victoria bus on Sundays to reflect an increase in demand.

As part of that expansion, there will also be more frequent weekend trips on Route 15 UNBC/Downtown, Route 88 Westgate, and Route 89 Hart.

“This service expansion in the Prince George Transit System has been made possible by an increase in local government and provincial funding,” a statement from BC Transit said.

“The operating grant provided in the 2025-26 provincial budget will allow BC Transit and its local government partners to continue to provide safe and reliable service and demonstrates that public transit remains a priority in our communities.”

BC Transit also says school trips on routes 12, 15, 55, 96 and 97 will be reinstated with the new school semester next month. Trips on those five bus routes were reduced for the holidays.
