City issues heavy snowfall declaration after 30 cm of snow falls in some areas
PRINCE GEORGE — The city of Prince George has issued a heavy snowfall declaration after approximately 30 centimetres of snow fell in higher elevation neighbourhoods over the past 24 hours.
The City says snow clearing timelines will be extended as crews work around the clock to improve road safety adding crews are expected to compete all plowing by the end of day on March 30, weather permitting.
A heavy snowfall declaration means a shift in the City’s priorities:
- Nighttime snow clearing and removal in the downtown priority one and priority two areas will start an hour earlier (11 p.m. instead of 12 a.m.).
- Snow removal completion times get by extended by 24 hours for each additional eight centimetres of snow (on top of the initial 20 centimetres).
