PRINCE GEORGE – Following an offseason of turmoil for the Prince George Kodiaks they are looking to turn the page and move ahead. The football club have announced they have received confirmation from the BCFC to compete in the upcoming 2026 season and will be looking to build off last seasons success. The board of directors has been hard at work calming the worries of the league, creating a plan and showing them that that Junior Football in the North is viable.

“The BCFC had some general concerns and questions about how we were going to survive heading into the 2026 season. Obviously with us being the most northern team in the league our travel costs are higher than any other team and our expenses when we’re on the road are higher than any other team. The league just wanted to see a plan.” said Prince George Kodiaks Director of Communications Ethan Ready.

With league confirmation in place the organization is now focusing on identifying the individual who will lead the Club into battle next season. Following last seasons success that resulted in the first ever playoff birth for the Kodiaks an immediate candidate for the top job would be the man that took them there last season and in doing so was minted CJFL coach of the year – Jamie Boreham. The club says they are exploring all options and focused on finding the right leader to navigate the team forward.

“Obviously, with us getting the league approval that we’ll be competing in the 2026 season it now allows the board to kind of shift that focus. Previously it was focusing on the financials that plan how we were going to make this happen. Now it allows us to shift that focus on that coaching position. We’re keeping every option on the table. We need to otherwise we’re not doing our due diligence for the kids. It’s definitely our next priority and our main focus that we’re looking to attend to.” said Ready.

With the first major hurdle cleared with the club competing in 2026 the Organization is committed to righting the ship and putting a competitive exciting product back on the field.

“There’s a lot of questions around the organization and rightfully so. Many of us who are on the board had the same questions just a few months ago that we’re looking to now address as a group moving forward. We’re really grateful for the continued support and the questions that are coming in. We’re just hoping to be able to get this organization stabilized financially, pointed in the right direction and at the end of the day then offering those programs to our kids throughout the community.” added Ready.

The Prince George Kodiaks are also preparing for spring camp in May which is a huge builder of the teams foundation as they assemble the team in time for the regular season starting in July.
