PRINCE GEORGE- The Relay for Life is set to revive and is ready to take place on June 27 and June 28 of this year at Masich Place Stadium. A group of UNBC students, including Jocelyn Kerr, a survivor of cancer, formed a committee to bring back the relay to promote cancer research. They hope to fundraise for the Canadians who have been diagnosed with cancer or know someone who has been affected by this disease.

“The Relay for Life is a community event that helps raise money for cancer research, cancer patients, hosted by the Canadian Cancer Society.” Victoria Bleecker and Zoe Younghusband, the two co-directors of the 2026 Relay for Life speak on their motivations behind the revival of the Relay for Life and why it is crucial to bring the Prince George community together to bring back this cherished event after years of having it missing. Their call for volunteers is a way to bring individuals together and make one large team of passionate people ready to revive the relay.

Kaihlyn Thompson, Felicity Bleecker and Natasha Rouet-Johnson have taken the social media by storm surrounding the Relay, getting the word out to the community by posting where and why the revival is happening. The social media team has the hopes to take a new perspective on the Relay by allowing word of mouth to take precedence but to have a supplemental audience reach through their media channels.
