PRINCE GEORGE — The City of Prince George is investing $390,000 in playground improvements at several parks across the community.

The funding includes $232,000 from the Canada Community-Building Fund, $58,000 from the General Infrastructure Reinvestment Fund and $100,000 from the B.C. Growing Communities Fund.

At Heather Park, the city has replaced the engineered wood fibre fall surface with a pour-in-place rubber surface, creating a fully accessible play area. Two additional pieces of playground equipment are also being added.

Repairs have been completed to the rubber fall surface at Duchess Park, while Stirling Park has received a new engineered wood fibre surface and wooden edging.

Work is also underway at Latrobe Park, where improvements to the wooden edging and installation of an engineered wood fibre surface are expected to be completed by the first week of November.

The existing swing set at Latrobe will also be replaced with a new double-bay swing set that meets current safety and accessibility requirements. Installation is planned for early summer 2027.

The latest projects follow other park investments announced earlier this year, including upgrades at Blackburn Park, improvements to trails across Prince George and work on enhanced washroom facilities at Rainbow Park.
