Adventures in Healthcare gives Students a chance to explore healthcare
PRINCE GEORGE – Adventures in Healthcare is returning for another year to shape the future of health care professionals. Starting May 3rd Adventures in Healthcare will see 60 grade ten and eleven students get a head start on post secondary by exploring careers in healthcare and human services. The program is a collaboration between the Rotary of Prince George, UNBC, the College of New Caledonia, Northern Health and School District 57 and will highlight a range of fields including medicine, nursing, physical therapy, dental hygiene, chemistry and social work. The program is aimed to keep talented healthcare professionals in the North.
“These lucky students who have applied and have been selected for the program will get hands on experience in a variety of educational opportunities, as well as career opportunities that exist in health care here in the North. This program will show them what is it like to study and learn about being a health care provider, and why it’s a great idea to stay here in the North for their training.” said the Dean of the Faculty of Human and Health Sciences at UNBC Dr. Nathan Lachowsky.
With a large need for healthcare professionals in British Columbia further increased by an aging population the benefits of early recruitment could have effects across the province.
