Elementary students embrace Heritage Fair
PRINCE GEORGE, BC- The Heritage Fair was held today (May 7) at the Exploration Place to invite students from Grade 4 to Grade 10 to embrace their culture and have a tie-in to their Canadian identity.
From projects in pop culture to the impacts of colonialism, these young pioneers of our city set sail to research their choice of category and how it ties to their educational journey thus far. With the use of primary sources, oral communication and personal interest, these students took their knowledge and transformed it to a visual medium, they could present in front of judges.
Community member and judge at the fair Flossie Smith spoke to CKPG and expressed her appreciation for the students who volunteered for this event. Smith said ” I was just getting almost teary, it’s amazing that these kids are so interested and that they have the ability to do the research and go ahead with it”.
