Hospice presents plans to Council
PRINCE GEORGE – Council will learn about plans to expand palliative care services currently offered in the community during a presentation from the Prince George Hospice Palliative Care Society at tonight’s regular meeting.
The Society currently offers services via the Rotary Hospice House on Ferry Avenue.
In its report, the Society notes, “the region continues to experience a significant gap in the availability of structured respite and supportive care services for individuals with life-limiting illnesses and their families.”
With that in mind, the Society is proposing Palliative Wellness Centre, designed to offer 12 respite suites for patients and families, therapeutic and wellness supports, such as rehabilitation, mobility and psychosocial supports as well as a communal educational and training space for families, caregivers, and professionals.
