Prince George resident offering up a solution for pet overpopulation
Pet Plan
PRINCE GEORGE – Anneliese Paasch is a devoted pet owner calling on fellow owners to help control the pet population in Prince George. She is suggesting a bold new idea which would require the City of Prince George to help fund the spaying and neutering of stray dogs and cats in the city for a 5 year trial period in conjunction with a non breeding bylaw.
“It’s obviously overpopulated, not just in the city itself but in the surrounding areas. It doesn’t help that people are still breeding and adding to the problem while a lot of animals have to be euthanized because of it. People like little designer dogs so that has to stop at least for a little while until we can get it under control.” said Paasch.
Paasch is quick to praise the Prince George Humane Society for all their hard work but acknowledges they don’t have the resources to make a large dent in the problem. One person Paasch has in her corner is Prince George Mayor Simon Yu who has spoken with Paasch on multiple occasions and agrees that this issue has been overlooked and deserves some immediate attention.
