Power outage affecting close to 10,000 BC Hydro customers in Prince George

PRINCE GEORGE — Update: BC Hydro has moved up its estimate and once again says power should be restored by 5 p.m.

Earlier: BC Hydro now estimates the power will be restored by 6:30 p.m. tonight.

Earlier: BC Hydro estimates power will be restored by 5 p.m. this evening though that is always subject to change.

Earlier: A power outage in Prince George is affecting over 9,800 BC Hydro customers this hour.

BC Hydro says the outage was caused by a vehicle that crashed into a pole or a pole structure. Affected areas include much of the Hart, Salmon Valley, Chief Lake, Nukko Lake, Otway, and North Nechako.

Prince George RCMP confirms there was a single-vehicle crash in the Vanway area at around 1:30 p.m. but BC Hydro has yet to confirm whether or not that crash caused the outage.

BC Hydro says its crews are on the way to make repairs. No word yet on when power will be restored.
