QUESNEL — A B.C. tractor-trailer driver has been charged with impaired driving causing death following a fatal collision that claimed the life of a Vancouver Island motorcyclist last summer.

Police say the crash occurred shortly after midnight on July 24, 2025, on Highway 97 near Naver Creek Road, south of Hixon. The collision involved a tractor-trailer and a black Harley-Davidson motorcycle ridden by a 42-year-old man from Chemainus.

The motorcyclist died as a result of the crash. Following an investigation, the tractor-trailer driver was arrested and has now been charged with impaired driving causing death. The accused also faces charges of dangerous driving causing death and operating a vehicle with a blood-alcohol concentration above the legal limit.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court later this month.
