Following demolition, site grading work will be completed, with sidewalk reconstruction planned for spring 2027.

The project carries a total budget of $1.4 million, including a $450,000 contribution from BC Housing toward demolition costs.

The property has played a key role in local supportive housing efforts over the past two years. Under an agreement with the city, BC Housing leased the site and operated 44 supportive housing units for people experiencing homelessness or staying in emergency shelters.

As part of the arrangement, BC Housing paid $1.134 million in lease fees upfront for a two-year term and committed funding toward the future demolition of the building.

The supportive housing program concluded in July 2026, and city officials say all occupants have since been relocated to other forms of housing.

Nearby property owners have already been notified about the upcoming work.

Once demolition and site rehabilitation are complete, the future use of the property will be considered through the Civic Core District Plan process, which is guiding redevelopment and growth within Prince George’s downtown core.
