Demolition of former Knights Inn set to begin in Prince George
PRINCE GEORGE —The City of Prince George is preparing to begin demolition of the former Knights Inn Motel at 650 Dominion Street, with work scheduled to start August 10 and continue through late October.
City officials say the teardown marks the next step in a long-term plan for the property, which was purchased by the city in October 2023 to ensure future redevelopment aligns with the Civic Core District Plan.
Demolition activities will take place Monday through Friday between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m., in accordance with the city’s noise bylaw. Residents and businesses in the surrounding area can expect temporary disruptions throughout the project.
Those impacts include temporary sidewalk closures along Sixth and Seventh avenues during the demolition period, as well as intermittent road closures near the property with traffic control measures in place. The east-side sidewalk on Dominion Street between Sixth and Seventh avenues will remain closed until spring 2027.
