Basement fire causes $40,000 in damage on Redwood Street

PRINCE GEORGE — Prince George Fire Rescue crews were called to a structure fire in the 2100 block of Redwood Street last night (August 9).

At approximately 9 p.m., firefighters from three halls responded to reports of a fire at a small residential structure. Upon arrival, crews observed smoke coming from the eaves and quickly located burning personal belongings in the basement. The fire was extinguished before it could spread to the building itself.

While the structure sustained no damage, smoke and water damage are estimated at $40,000. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by Prince George Fire Rescue officials.
