PRINCE GEORGE — Update: Emergency response training originally scheduled for Wednesday has been postponed to Thursday, August 13, to accommodate urgent operational needs. Organizers say the time and location of the event remain unchanged.
Earlier: Prince George residents may notice an increased police presence and hear loud noises near Duchess Park Secondary School on Wednesday afternoon as RCMP officers take part in a large-scale emergency response training exercise.
The training session, organized in partnership with School District 57, is scheduled to run from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the school, located on Winnipeg Street.
During the exercise, members of the public can expect to see both uniformed and plainclothes officers, along with a variety of police vehicles on site. Police say people in the area may also hear pops, loud bangs, yelling and screaming as part of the realistic training scenario.
