Prince George residents advised of RCMP emergency response training at Duchess Park

PRINCE GEORGE — Prince George residents may notice an increased police presence and hear loud noises near Duchess Park Secondary School on Wednesday afternoon as RCMP officers take part in a large-scale emergency response training exercise.

The training session, organized in partnership with School District 57, is scheduled to run from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the school, located on Winnipeg Street.

During the exercise, members of the public can expect to see both uniformed and plainclothes officers, along with a variety of police vehicles on site. Police say people in the area may also hear pops, loud bangs, yelling and screaming as part of the realistic training scenario.

According to Prince George RCMP, the exercise is designed to simulate an active threat situation and will involve live actors to create a dynamic and realistic environment for officers. Officials stress that the event is a controlled training exercise and does not pose a threat to the public.
