114 years on, the BCNE is still big business for Prince George
PRINCE GEORGE – Every summer for four days, the British Columbia Northern Exhibition makes Prince George a popular destination, and local businesses see the difference.
The BCNE, run by the Prince George Agricultural and Historical Association, will celebrate its 114th year in 2026. General manager Sylvia Layzell says the fair attracts visitors from well outside the city, and they spend money while they are here.
“It’s a great economic boost for Prince George,” Layzell said. “They stay in our hotels. They shop in our malls. They go to our restaurants.”
