PRINCE GEORGE – Prince George RCMP are asking for help from the public as they look into a hit-and-run that involved a child last week.

Police say the incident took place around 4:30 p.m. on August 12 on Sinclair Road near Sinclair Park. A group of kids were walking along the shoulder when a vehicle reportedly hit one of them and then drove away.

RCMP say the vehicle kept going north on Lansdowne Road without stopping. The child, who is nine years old, was not seriously hurt.

Prince George RCMP Media Relations Officer Cpl. Jennifer Cooper said investigators especially want to talk to a driver who might have seen what happened and possibly recorded it on their cellphone.

“We are hopeful that person will come forward with their video footage for our investigators,” Cooper said.

Police say the vehicle is a white Ford Escape that might have a 1.5-inch diagonal scratch on the front passenger side.

The driver is described as a Caucasian woman in her 60s, with a thin to medium build and long grey hair. She was reportedly wearing a white polka-dot shirt and a silver butterfly necklace.

If you saw the collision or have any information about the vehicle or driver, please call the Prince George RCMP non-emergency line at 250-561-3300 and mention file number 2026-27914.
