Ernesto Caranto launches Prince George mayoral campaign
PRINCE GEORGE — Prince George mayoral candidate Ernesto Caranto says improving public transportation and addressing crime in the downtown core would be his top priorities if elected.
Caranto, who works as an acute care nursing assistant, announced his candidacy with a message centered on what he sees as gaps in the city’s infrastructure and services. Having lived in Prince George for several years, he said he was motivated to enter municipal politics after observing challenges affecting residents, workers and newcomers.
“I would like to run here as a mayor because when I came here years ago, I saw Prince George is totally behind in many things,” Caranto said.
Among his primary concerns is public transportation. Caranto argued that attracting new residents and workers requires a stronger transit network and improved transportation options across the city.
