RCMP seize suspected fentanyl, cocaine and weapons during downtown traffic stop
PRINCE GEORGE — Prince George RCMP say officers seized suspected fentanyl, cocaine, weapons and cash following a traffic stop in the city’s downtown core Monday afternoon.
According to police, members of the Problem Oriented Policing (POP) team conducted a traffic stop shortly before 2 p.m. after locating an illegally parked sedan on the 200-block of George Street.
During the stop, officers interacted with the vehicle’s occupants, including a man who was known to police. RCMP said the man was in the process of exiting the vehicle when he suddenly attempted to re-enter it, prompting officers to take action.
Both the man and a female occupant were arrested without incident. Police reported that neither the suspects nor the officers sustained any injuries during the arrest. Following the arrests, investigators searched the vehicle and allegedly discovered more than 25 grams of suspected fentanyl, over four grams of suspected cocaine and several weapons.
