Growth Coming, housing questions remain
PRINCE GEORGE – Prince George is positioning itself for significant economic growth, with major industrial developments, resource projects and the possibility of future data centres expected to bring new jobs and investment to the region. But as community leaders look toward that growth, a key question remains: can the city build enough housing before new workers begin arriving?
The issue comes as Prince George works to meet ambitious provincial housing targets. The province expects the city to deliver 1,803 net new housing units over a five-year period, a goal that reflects both existing housing pressures and the anticipated demand that could come with future development.
While city officials note that Prince George has been meeting its housing targets, many acknowledge that the work is far from finished.
