Indigenous artists paint a 70-foot welcome for new Prince George housing
PRINCE GEORGE – A bold new mural is almost finished in downtown Prince George, and its message goes well beyond the artwork itself.
The mural, called “Rise Above,” covers a 70-foot wall at 611 Brunswick St. Carrier Sekani Family Services, members of the United Indigenous Artists of Northwest B.C., created the piece. The team is now finishing the last details.
The mural surrounds a new housing project for Indigenous people and families who need stable housing. The building will have 45 affordable, low-barrier units. Some units are for Elders, and younger residents will have live-in support.
