New mining push takes root west of Prince George
PRINCE GEORGE – Northern British Columbia is experiencing a surge in new mining and exploration. One of the newest projects is starting just west of Prince George.
GoldInxs is preparing to drill at its Fishpot project, a gold, silver, and copper exploration site about 20 kilometres west of Nazko, in the southwest part of Prince George. The company expects to begin core sampling in the next few months.
Forestry has been a key industry in this region for a long time, so the timing of new mining projects is notable. Darcy Vis, the company’s vice-president of exploration, said mining is growing as forestry declines.
