EDMONTON — Barring a collapse, or an amazing final round by a challenger, Miyu Yamashita of Japan is poised to win the CPKC Women’s Open at the Royal Mayfair Golf Club later today.

Yamashita, who turned 25 earlier this month, takes a six-shot lead into the final round. American Gina Kim and Yuri Yoshida of Japan are tied for second at 13 under, with American Jennifer Kupcho in fourth at 12 under.

Yamashita set a tournament record with her three-round total of 191, and tied a tournament record for the largest lead after 54 holes. She has had three consecutive rounds in the 60s, including yesterday’s 5-under 65.

Teenager Aphrodite Deng of Calgary tied a personal best score of 63 and is tied for sixth at 10 under.
