“My approach to the work is pretty straightforward: come prepared, work constructively, and think beyond today’s vote,” she said. “That means reading the agenda packages, doing the research, and asking the questions.”

During her time on the board, Holland has chaired both the Policy Advisory Committee and the Ad Hoc Policy Committee. Earlier this year, she was also elected by trustees from across British Columbia to represent the Northern Interior on the Board of Directors of the BC Public School Employers’ Association, the organization that represents the province’s 60 public boards of education in labour relations and collective bargaining matters.

Holland’s involvement in public education stretches back two decades. She first became active through school Parent Advisory Councils in 2006 and later became involved at the district level during the 2010 school closure process. She also served as chair of the District Parent Advisory Council.

Outside her role as trustee, Holland works as a financial planning specialist, focusing on analysis and long-term financial planning.

“I know the work better now, I know the district better, and I know where I can be useful,” Holland said. “Public education matters to me, and I hope voters will give me the chance to continue the work for another term.”

The municipal and school trustee election is scheduled for Oct. 17.
