UNBC Timberwolves add Kamloops goalkeeper Owen McMillan for 2026 Season

The goalkeeper earned Honour Roll and Gold Cord status during his final year of high school and credits South Kamloops Secondary coach Mike Deccico and Kamloops United FC coach Darren Sarll for helping prepare him for the next stage of his career.

A visit to Prince George helped convince McMillan that UNBC was the right fit. He said he was impressed by the campus, the atmosphere surrounding the program and the culture established within the team.

“The campus is very nice and the team energy is incredible,” said McMillan. He also praised Timberwolves head coach Steve Simonson, describing him as an engaging leader who inspires players to improve while maintaining a positive environment.

Simonson is equally excited about the newest addition to his roster.

“Owen has slotted in seamlessly as a member of our goalkeeping team,” Simonson said. “He has an incredible work ethic, is extremely coachable and has a strong technical foundation in the position.”

The coach added that McMillan has already shown the potential to develop into a strong U SPORTS-level goalkeeper.

Away from soccer, McMillan is fluent in French and enjoys playing the piano.

The Timberwolves say they are excited to welcome him to the program as they prepare for the upcoming season.
