Foodie Fridays continues to grow as summer tradition in Prince George

This year, several new features were added to make the event better for visitors. One highlight was Civic Eats, the City’s food and drink provider, offering a barbecue-style menu. Russell said they hope to be part of more outdoor city events in the future.

Foodie Fridays has also improved thanks to upgrades at Canada Games Plaza. A new outdoor stage gives performers their own space, and other changes, like the skating rink, have brought more activity and interest to the area.

Russell said the City wants Canada Games Plaza to become a place people visit all year, not just in the summer.

“We’re really interested in trying to activate the plaza as much as we can,” he said. “It’s been a huge part of our community over the past 10 or 15 years, and we want to encourage people to start coming down again on a regular basis.”

Besides Foodie Fridays, the plaza is also used for events by groups like the Prince George Public Library and Two Rivers Gallery. City officials hope that hosting many different programs and events will make the plaza an even more important gathering spot for the community.

With more people attending, new vendors joining, and ongoing improvements at Canada Games Plaza, Foodie Fridays has become a favourite summer tradition for people in Prince George.
