PRINCE GEORGE — A familiar face in Prince George and across northern British Columbia is taking on a new leadership role in the region’s health-care system.

Northern Health has announced that former Prince George mayor Lyn Hall has been appointed chair of its Board of Directors by B.C. Health Minister Ravi Kahlon. Hall succeeds Colleen Nyce, who has served on the Northern Health Board since 2015 and has spent the past nine years as chair.

Nyce will remain on the board through the end of 2026 to help ensure a smooth transition. She has also been appointed to the Board of the Provincial Health Services Authority.

Health Minister Ravi Kahlon thanked Nyce for her years of service and welcomed Hall to the position.

“I’d like to thank Colleen for her many years of service and for her continued commitment to public health care in British Columbia,” Kahlon said. He added that Hall has provided community leadership in northern B.C. for many years and is well suited to guide the organization moving forward.

Under Nyce’s leadership, Northern Health navigated some of the most challenging periods in its history. Her tenure included overseeing the organization during the COVID-19 pandemic, addressing workforce shortages, managing service delivery pressures, and helping guide major infrastructure investments throughout the region.

Nyce said serving as chair has been an honour and praised the dedication of health-care workers, physicians, volunteers, Indigenous partners and communities across the North.

“I know Lyn shares that commitment to the North, and I am delighted to welcome him as Chair and help ensure a seamless transition,” she said.

Hall brings decades of public service experience to the role. A longtime Prince George resident, he entered public office in 2001 as a trustee with School District 57 and later served as both a city councillor and mayor. He has also worked as a Regional District director and served on numerous regional and provincial boards.

Hall joined the Northern Health Board in May 2025 and is serving a term that runs until April 2029.

“It is an honour to serve as chair of the Northern Health Board,” Hall said. “Northern Health plays a vital role in the lives of people across northern B.C.”

As board chair, Hall will work alongside fellow directors and Northern Health leadership to support the delivery of health services and advance the organization’s strategic priorities across northern British Columbia.
