Timberwolves soccer teams drop pair of matches at home to open their season

PRINCE GEORGE — The University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) Timberwolves are 0-1 to start the 2026 Canada West season. 

The T-Wolves women’s soccer team was shut out by the Thompson Rivers University (TRU) WolfPack 1-0 in their home opener at Masich Place Friday (Sept. 4). Goalkeeper Johanna Rathke made seven saves for UNBC in defeat. 

Later that day, the T-Wolves men’s soccer got out to a 1-0 lead thanks to an 18th minute goal by midfielder James Jordan. However, TRU would come back and score two unanswered goals to take the 2-1 win. 

UNBC will try to rebound on Sunday (Sept. 6) when they welcome the University of the Fraser Valley Cascades to Masich Place. The women kick off at noon while the men play at 2:30 p.m.
