School zone enforcement returns
PRINCE GEORGE – The excitement of a new school year was evident across Prince George Tuesday morning as students returned to classrooms, but the first day back to school also marked the return of school zone speed limits and stepped-up enforcement by RCMP.
At Ecole College Heights and schools throughout the city, police officers, ICBC representatives, parents and students were out bright and early reminding drivers that reduced speed limits are once again in effect. Authorities say motorists need to be especially vigilant as thousands of students resume their daily routines after the summer break.
Corporal Jennifer Cooper, spokesperson for the BC RCMP in Northern BC, says the return to school often catches some drivers by surprise.
