Monica Peacock puts focus on student support in school trustee bid
PRINCE GEORGE – Longtime community volunteer Monica Peacock says her passion for helping children and families is driving her campaign for a seat on the School District 57 Board of Education.
Peacock, who was named Prince George’s Citizen of the Year in 2012, said she has spent decades giving back to the community through organizations and events including the Festival of Trees, Evening of Pink fundraiser and a variety of youth programs.
“I may not be able to move the mountain, but I’ll sure blow a hole in it,” Peacock said, describing her approach to tackling challenges and advocating for others.
After retiring from business ownership, Peacock said she began looking for a new way to contribute to the community. She described the transition into retirement as an opportunity to find a renewed sense of purpose.
