School trustee candidate Don Sabo pledges accountability, transparency

PRINCE GEORGE — Prince George school trustee candidate Don Sabo says restoring public trust in School District 57 will be a key priority if he is elected to the board.

Sabo, a long-time community volunteer and private consultant, points to more than six years of experience serving on boards of directors for several well-known Prince George organizations. He also spent four years as chair of the District Parent Advisory Council, giving him firsthand experience working within the education system and advocating on behalf of students and families.

Sabo says his background has equipped him with a range of skills he believes would benefit the board, including strategic planning, policy development, critical thinking, communications, and decision-making. He says those abilities have been developed over more than 25 years working as a private consultant.

A central theme of Sabo’s campaign is rebuilding confidence in the school board. He argues that decisions made by a majority of trustees on the previous board damaged public trust and generated controversy within the community.
