Labour Council seeks to inform union members ahead of municipal election
PRINCE GEORGE – As Prince George prepares for another municipal election, the organization representing workers across a wide range of industries says it wants to ensure union members head to the ballot box armed with information about the candidates seeking public office.
The North Central Labour Council, which represents affiliated unions from sectors including forestry, health care, education and public service, is once again conducting its endorsement process for candidates running for city council, mayor, school board and the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George.
According to labour council president Matt Baker, the goal is not simply to support individual candidates but to help workers understand which candidates align with labour values and progressive priorities.
