Schinkel enters crowded race for RDFFG Area D seat
PRINCE GEORGE — A veteran firefighter and longtime community volunteer has joined the race to represent Electoral Area D on the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George board.
Ken Schinkel is one of six candidates seeking to replace outgoing director Bill Empey, who is retiring after serving the area.
Schinkel says his decision to run stems from a lifelong commitment to community service and a desire to continue helping residents following his retirement from the Prince George Fire Centre about a year and a half ago.
“I kind of missed helping the public,” Schinkel said. “This is a way to get back and serve the public in a different role.”
