Young candidate aims to bring new perspective to Prince George council race
PRINCE GEORGE — At just 20 years old, first-time city council candidate Tucker Krause hopes to bring a younger perspective to Prince George politics and address what he sees as one of the city’s biggest challenges: keeping young people from leaving.
Born and raised in the Prince George area, Krause is currently a second-year student at the University of Northern British Columbia and is the youngest candidate seeking a seat on city council.
Krause said his decision to run was motivated by seeing many people in his generation choose to move away from the city after graduating or completing their training.
“The main thing I see is that a lot of people my age are choosing to leave Prince George,” he said. “My goal is to make Prince George a more attractive place and help retain those people.”
