Hit-and-run crash kills 80-year-old cyclist in Chilliwack, B.C., police say

CHILLIWACK — Police in British Columbia’s Fraser Valley say an 80-year-old cyclist has died after a hit-and-run crash, while a suspect driver has since been arrested and released pending further investigation.

Chilliwack RCMP say the female cyclist was struck at the intersection of Portage Avenue and Woodbine Street at about 6 p.m. Saturday and pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say a suspect vehicle has since been identified and seized.

They say an adult male driver was arrested but later released as the investigation continues.
