Green week puts transportation first
PRINCE GEORGE – UNBC is encouraging students and residents to rethink how they get around Prince George as Green Week 2026 continues with a series of events highlighting alternatives to driving.
Running from September 19 to 27, Green Week features activities focused on walking, cycling, public transit and electric mobility. Events are taking place both on UNBC’s Prince George campus and at locations throughout the community, including the Prince George Farmers Market and Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park.
Traditionally held in the spring, Green Week has been moved to September this year. Organizers say the change allows the event to take advantage of warmer weather, align with Fall GoByBike Week in British Columbia and connect with students as they establish new routines at the start of the academic year.
