MACKENZIE — Tianna Klein will take a seat at the school board table after being acclaimed as Mackenzie’s new school trustee, succeeding Rachael Weber.
Klein said she was surprised to learn she had been acclaimed, expecting a race that would require candidates to outline their priorities for voters. Instead, she now prepares to represent Mackenzie residents on the Board of Education with a focus on communication, advocacy and ensuring rural concerns are heard.
A Mackenzie resident for nearly three years, Klein is a mother of three, a former healthcare professional and a former councillor in Provost, Alberta. She has also spent years volunteering with parent advisory councils and district-level advocacy groups.
Klein said her decision to run was shaped largely by her experiences navigating the education system as a parent of children with medical and learning challenges. She said those experiences highlighted the need for stronger communication between families and decision-makers.
