Home opener brings big test
PRINCE GEORGE- The Prince George Spruce Kings will make their long-awaited return to home ice tonight as they host the West Kelowna Warriors in their BCHL home opener at Kopar Memorial Arena.
Prince George enters the contest with a 1-1 record after splitting its opening two games on the road last weekend. Standing in their way are the Warriors, who arrive in Prince George with a perfect 2-0 mark to begin the season.
Despite the split, the Spruce Kings believe there are plenty of positives to build on as they prepare for their first home crowd of the year. Forward Cooper Faughnan said the team is focused on tightening up its play in the defensive zone while continuing to build chemistry with a roster that includes several new faces.
