Advance voting off to record start in Prince George

PRINCE GEORGE — Prince George voters are turning out in strong numbers through the first two days of advance voting in the 2026 municipal election.

The City says 1,176 ballots were cast Wednesday, October 7, followed by another 1,079 on Thursday.

Wednesday’s total marked the highest single-day advance voting turnout on record in Prince George, edging the previous record, set during the fourth day of advance voting in 2022, by one vote.

The numbers are also well ahead of the beginning of the 2022 election, when 828 ballots were cast on the first advance voting day and 665 on the second.

Chief Election Officer Ethan Anderson says election workers have done a fantastic job and officials are pleased with the turnout so far.

“We encourage people to come and vote early if you are able. This will mean less line ups on October 17,” Anderson said.

Voters will have two more opportunities to cast an advance ballot, Wednesday, October 14 and Thursday, October 15. Voting will be available from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the Prince George Conference and Civic Centre.

General Voting Day is Saturday, October 17, with polls open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at eight community locations.

Voters are reminded to bring two pieces of acceptable identification establishing their identity and residency, with at least one document containing their signature.
