Simon Yu defends acute care tower vote as he seeks second term as mayor
PRINCE GEORGE — As Prince George voters prepare to head to the polls on October 17, incumbent Mayor Simon Yu says he wants to build on the progress made during his first four years in office and continue positioning the city for future growth.
Yu, who was first elected mayor in 2022, is seeking a second term and points to economic development, downtown revitalization and major infrastructure investments as key priorities for Prince George’s future.
One of the most prominent issues during Yu’s first term has been the ongoing effort to revitalize downtown Prince George. Owning two properties in the downtown core himself, Yu said municipal leaders must demonstrate confidence in the city’s future by investing in the area.
