PRINCE GEORGE — It’s shaping up to be a messy municipal election day as Environment Canada says a fall storm will bring mixed weather conditions to the Prince George area this Saturday (Oct. 17).

A special weather statement is in place for Prince George, Stuart – Nechako, Lakes District and Cariboo regions. It’s also in place for the Cariboo Highway from Clinton to 100 Mile House.

“A sharp cold front moving across the B.C. Interior on Saturday will primarily generate strong gusty winds of 60 to 80 km/h,” Environment Canada states. “Snow levels will fall with the passage of this cold front and may produce some snow over high elevation highway passes.”

The weather agency adds there will be a risk of thunderstorms over the Cariboo region Saturday. Environment Canada is warning residents of possible utility outages, fallen branches slippery conditions over high elevation passes. Drivers in high profile vehicles are also asked to take caution in high winds.
