To Your Health: Old medications can return to pharmacies
TO YOUR HEALTH – Expired medication in your medicine cabinet may not work as intended. A local pharmacist also warns that some medicines can become unsafe after they expire.
Brianna Pallot, pharmacist and manager at Third Avenue Pharmacy, says if you find expired medication, you should bring it to a pharmacy for disposal.
“When they’re expired, the most common thing is they, of course, lose their potency. So how well they work,” Pallot said. “So they may be ineffective or less effective for you.”
