PG Motorists Deal With Snowy Streets

PRINCE GEORGE — Be careful if venturing out on area roadways today.

Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning with as much as 25 centimetres of the white stuff expected in town, on the Pine Pass, the Yellowhead Highway from Tete Jaune Cache to the Alberta border and in the South Cariboo from 100 Mile House to Clinton.

ICBC estimates over the Christmas holidays and New Year’s, 510 people are injured and two people are killed in 1,890 crashes every year in B.C. In the North Central region during the Christmas holidays, 13 people are injured in 88 crashes every year.

As a result, the public auto insurer is offering up a number of tips, including ensuring you install winter tires on your vehicle, slowing down and avoiding distractions like talking on your cell phone.
