Fresh Snow Expected For Ski Hills In Prince George
PRINCE GEORGE – It finally feels like winter in Prince George and Environment Canada says outdoor activities will continue to benefit from what’s coming.
“Conditions are fantastic today. We got fresh snow last night and it’s over top of groomed so it’s really smooth skiing or snowboarding,” says Manager of the Hart Ski Hill, Jess Hudson. “We were worried about the warmer weather because we need minus 2 or colder to be able to make snow and we were unable to make it when we had the warmer temperatures.”
According to Environment Canada, the weather Prince George is currently experiencing is on par for where it should be. The average temperature for this time of year is minus five and once the weekend is over the city will be headed into a colder and dryer stretch.
“The next system approaches tomorrow and we’ll see a fair bit of snow out of that, 20-30 centimetres could be possible by Saturday afternoon, most of that will come Friday night upwards of 10-15 centimetres. And as we get into Saturday things will warm up a bit and it will actually be a high of plus 1 so you could see some rain mixed with snow on Saturday before precipitation tapers off on Saturday afternoon,” says Meteorologist, Bobby Sekhon.
