Feelin’ Festive: How Early Is Too Early?

PRINCE GEORGE- It seems to be an annual debate: is it disrespectful to decorate for Christmas before Remembrance Day? The local Royal Canadian Legion says it’s not. In fact, member, John Scott, says Christmas displays in stores may attract more shoppers which gives volunteers an opportunity to sell more poppies and educate the public about the poppy campaign. “I think the Legion is rather ambivalent about that,” said Scott, “it actually brings people into the stores and we have the opportunity to give kids poppies.” More than 600 people responded to our CKPGToday poll with the majority saying it’s too early to set up decorations.
