Council Sworn In
PRINCE GEORGE – With much pomp and ceremony, Mayor and Council were sworn in at Council Chambers Monday evening. One-by-one, Mayor and Council swore the Oath of Office and took their respective seats. Before getting down to business, Mayor Lyn Hall started off the heart-felt thanks to family and friends for standing by him through his journey in civic politics, adding “politics is a family affair.”
He added that many of the issues facing the previous Councils for the past four years still need work, such as seniors and infrastructure.
Other areas he’d like to focus on over the next four years are improving parks and trails, attracting manufacturing to continue the diversified economy, affordable housing and transportation, and strengthening partnerships with organizations like UNBC, CNC, the Chamber and so.
“I know without a doubt that the group before you will be up to the challenge,” he told the packed gallery.
But, because of scheduling, Council had to get down to business right away. The Regional District is swearing in its Board members next week. The Board has four representatives from Prince George Council. They are the Mayor and three Councillors.
